I am a philosopher who works primarily in meta-ethics. I'm the Uihlein Fellow of Ethics  in the Philosophy Department at Lawrence University, where I have worked since Fall 2019.  Before coming to Lawrence, I was Post-Doctoral Fellow at the Centre for Moral and Political Philosophy at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem. I received my Ph.D from the University of Nebraska in 2018.

The core area of my research is the ontology of normativity.  I favor non-naturalism and reasons-first views, and I work on the metaphysical challenges these views face, and to a lesser extent the epistemological challenges.  I also work in political philosophy, where I focus on individuals' obligations of justice, state legitimacy, and egalitarianism.  This intersects with my work in medical ethics.  My medical ethics research is inspired by insights I've gained through teaching.  I'm interested in public philosophy, and seek out venues for sharing my work in medical ethics and political philosophy.
